How can one imagine pork buns to be better than the authentic, traditional style? You'll just have to eat it to find out. Try the pork belly and the tofu. Eat the tofu first though 'cause you'll want the pork to be the last taste in your mouth. Ohhhh sooo good...

I biked over to their stop in SOMA at 1.39. Much to my chagrin, they had closed at 1.30 and were already packing up for their next location. When I approached the window to confirm my fears, Ray (one of the owners) came out and offered to make me a tofu bun because they hadn't put it away yet. It came out seconds later, yummy, drippy, and delicious. And when I offered to pay, he refused to take my money because he couldn't offer me a full choice of menu options. Loyalty for ever.

I'm not sure if I thought this was just okay because I eat similar things all the time, or if it was overhyped. I didn't eat the famed pork belly bun, but I got the Chicken wrapped in the soft bao bun. It tasted like a mock peking duck. Pretty good I must say, but nothing special, and definitely not worth the price. I'd have to say though, if you don't eat Chinese food often, it is probably worth a try.

Twenty to thirty minute ques for nouveau steamed buns that cost more than double what you can get in almost any Chinatowns? I'll have one of each, please.

The Chairman is my all time favorite food truck. I play with the ida of having food trucks at my wedding...and if ever I were to execute such a 'hipster' concept the CM would be at the top of the list!! I'm a vegetarian so I usually get their tofu sandwich. Perfect size, I always feel satisfied but not stuffed :).

My top two: 1. Crispy Miso Cured Tofu (I bet most people don't even try this, but it is sooo good.) 2. Coca-Cola Braised Pork Also I think it's ironic that it's named the Chairman, when it's serving Taiwanese-inspired food.

You had me at pork belly..... I love this truck! Remember the days when you heard that little jingle from the ice cream truck and you start to run towards it? This is my adult ice cream truck....hold the ice cream and bring on the pork belly! I see the Panda Bear and I start to salivate! Steamed pork belly bun in a nutshell: -Soft, steamed buns -Nice big chunk of crispy pork belly -Yummy pickled relish of some sort layered on top -Perfect Tasty Combo The buns can seem bit pricey because you want to eat like 10 of them in one sitting but they are so worth trying. Seriously, what are you waiting for??? GOOOO!

I absolutely love chairman bao!!! Tip: get the baked option over the steamed one. It's more worth it and alot bigger! Everytime I've had chairman bao I haven't been disappointed. I recently tried their red sesame chicken baked bao and it was so delicious. The chicken was seasoned nicely with the slaw and bao together it was so good. My usual is the pork belly bao which has succulent, fatty pork that is cooked to perfection and slightly crispy. It's so good it almost Made me think that it was crispy duck. Yum. Will def be back for more. Generally I havent had to wait too long for the bao. Usually about 10 mins but then again I go to the otg at the civic center. Love it! :)

Pork belly with daikon salad- did without the bun. Very tasty salad and pork. Love the pickly goodness of the daikon salad. Could have used a little more pork, but i bought the steamed size. Next time I will try the baked size.

There's a reason why there is always a long line for this truck. The steamed pork belly buns has 2 big pieces of tender pork topped with sliced pickled daikons which is a nice twist to the normal cucumber. Running from $3.25 for the spicy chicken up to $3.75 for the pork belly for the steamed buns and over $6 for the baked ones, get a few to share. Even if you're full, it is a nice snack!

Chairman Bao in the East Bay! They stop in Emeryville at Hollis and 53rd almost every Monday during lunch (11:30-1:30ish). My favorite is the pork belly with pickled daikon baked bun. In the past I've also had the duck with mangoes and spicy sauce which was really yummy, too. I also recently tried the braised pork bun but it was a little on the dry side and needed some sort of sauce. Only problem is that the buns are pricey! $6.75 for a baked bun is too much for the portion. Still a nice treat to have one in awhile. Follow them on twitter/facebook to find out where the truck is =)

The Chairman rocks! We stalk this truck on the regular for their tasty treats. Thank my lucky stars for the interwebz which makes tracking these guys easier. I'm going to admit, before the Chairman, pork belly was not in my vocabulary. One brave Sunday morning I got the steamed pork belly bun, and now I'm hooked. I also enjoy me some tofu, and their steamed bun is really great. The BF noms on the braised coca-cola steamed buns. The only problem we have with this place is that there is not enough room in our tummies for more ;). Not a bad problem to have.

WOW so delicious! My first time ever... had the steam bun with #1: Coca-Cola Braised Pork with Savoy Cabbage & Preserved Yellow Mustard Seeds #2: Spicy Chicken with Toasted Sesame Purée, Pickled Carrots-Cucumber & Cilantro #3: Tender Pork Belly with Turmeric Pickled Daikon & Green Shiso Happy Tummy!

I've had the Pork Belly Steamed Bao, and I must say that was a couple of bites of perfection. The pork was tender and flavorful, and the pickled radish was a perfect complement. The bun was not soggy and was firm enough to hold it all together. I've always loved "quapaos" back home, and this to me is a awesome version of it. I would've given it 5 stars, but at $3.75 each, it held me back. Opportunity cost....is $3.75 worth two bites of yummyness???? You be the judge!

Tried this for the second time this year but this time I got the steam and bake bun. The steam bun with spicy chicken was really good and more filling. The steam pork belly bun was amazing and the pork belly melts away in your mouth. I would get this all the time but I don't think it's too good for my health lol.

Had it last night outside john collins and then drove out to redwood city to have it for lunch with the bf. yeah. im crazy. but ill go to far lengths for pork products wrapped in my favorite kind of bun- duck bun. yummy glaze. meat that tastes fatty. fat that tastes meaty. boom. side note: had the strawberry coconut drink... a little too much going on for me. too floral, too much chewables inside, good taste though. got 2 steamed buns (porkbelly, of course!) last night for $6 got the 2 steamed buns and the drink for $9 i think its a great deal for delicious meats and starch.

Next to Roli Roti, Chairman Bao is my favorite food truck in San Francisco. Just the thought of their pillowy steamed buns filled with fatty, savory pork belly and crunchy slices of pickled daikon makes me salivate. Their duck confit and mango salad bun should also not be missed. After waiting in line (this truck usually has the longest line), you should get your fill on both. **For my full review on foodtrucks around SF, visit my blog link under my profile. Enjoy!**

Imagine my surprise when I saw this truck pulling up outside our window in Menlo Park. Been meaning to try this for ages but the line was always so long. Anyway... it's... amazing...... and doesn't need another 5-star review, but here it is anyway. Had the Pork Belly and Coca-Cola Pork. Both were great. I was debating whether to walk back there and try some more but both my wallet and my belly probably need a break. They accept credit card via square which is also good. I hope that they make coming down here a regular occurrence!

Oh those steamed pork buns! First of all, I know they smell great, and you've been standing in that long line, but TWO is all you really need. Secondly, the chicken bun is good, but do yourself a favor, if you get a chicken and a pork belly, EAT THE CHICKEN FIRST. The pork buns are so much better that you owe it to your mouth. Oh, and I saw that some people complain about the line, which has been about 15-deep when I get to them, What do you expect? They're not serving pre-made sandwiches, they're cooking delicious food. Be patient, it's worth the wait!

So, the steamed ones are the way to go! I really didn't like the baked pork belly bun, but the steamed buns are really a flavorful, sweet treat.

Definitely get the BAKED pork belly bun - also on the 7x7 Big Eat list and so dang delicious! You can skip most of the steamed buns, except maybe the veggie. I'd rather have a steamed bun from Chinatown or spots along Clement for a fraction of the Chairman price.

I don't care that there's over 175 reviews, I'm just agreeing with everyone! Instant yummy-ness, instant happiness! don't forget they have a sign saying 6 bun limit per customer!

Each protein has a distinct, well seasoned flavor (chicken can be pretty spicy!) And the choice of breads is fun and changes the character of each sandwich. If you're just sampling, go for the steamed bread. Baked bread is larger serving and heartier.

I've been waiting for this moment for a really long time! When I can finally try Chairman Bao. I've been trying to track it down for a while with no luck. I finally figured out that it comes every other week to Civic Center. I had the chicken and the pork belly. Wow, the pork belly was sooo good!! It was crispy pork paired with yellow daikon radish. I'm not such a huge fan of daikon that is SO yellow.. seems quite unnatural. But it was crunchy and paired well with the fatty pork belly. The sesame chicken was okay... meat was tender, tasty, and all that, but nothing to write home about. Steamed buns are 3.25 or 3.75, depending on the filling. Kinda pricey, but not too bad for a food truck, and 2 are enough to fill you up for a meal. I want to try a baked bun next!

The food: 1. Duck steamed bun: the duck was extremely dry and the sauce did not mesh well with the mango or duck. 2. Pork steamed bun: the fatty pork was delicious. The pickled daikon was slightly under flavored. 3. Strawberry shaved ice with coconut: it was refreshing and not overly sweet. The service: People working the truck were extremely friendly and service was quick considering the line. Cons: $9 for 2 taco sized buns and a drink is pretty pricey for "truck food". The "LA fad" of serving ethnic cuisine out of trucks loses its appeal when the food is priced like a sitdown restaurant.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
